Sažetak
Chronic urticaria (CU) can be defined as the occurrence of wheals on a daily or almost daily basis over a period longer than 6 weeks. The pathogenetic mechanisms of the disease are not well understood, but the cell type primarily involved is mast cell. The etiology, pathogenesis, diagnostic pathways and treatment modalities are reviewed. We report on the results obtained in the study of possible eliciting factors in CU patients seen at the Department of Dermatology and Venerology, Zagreb University Hospital Center during the period from 1995 till July 1998. The importance of investigation of Helicobacteer pylori infection assessment is discused.
