Sažetak
Adamantane polycyclic compounds have recently found their use in studies of molecular recognition and self-assembly properties of cucurbit[n]uril macrocycles.[1] In these complexes the highly selective binding interactions with cationic species are driven by a combination of ion-dipole interactions, hydrogen bonds and the hydrophobic effect. We recently synthesized various 2, 6-diaminoadamantane salts [2] with the aim of studying their interactions with cucurbit[n]uril family of compounds and in the continuation of this research we turned our attention to diamantane.[3] Some 1, 6-disubstituted derivatives of diamantane are already known in the literature, [4] but we sought to synthesize the positively charged 1, 6-diamine salts such as 4 and 5 for further use in the binding studies. Herein we report the synthesis and crystal structure determination of a number of 1, 6- disubstituted diamantanes.
