Sažetak
Croatia is on its way to join the European Union and European information society. State Geodetic Administration (SGA), a state administrative organisation dealing with administrative and professional jobs in the field of geodesy, cartography, cadastre and photogrammetry, played the leading role and did the first step towards establishing National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) in Croatia. The new Law on State Survey and Real Estate Cadastre which was adopted by the Croatian Parliament in January 2007 is the first Croatian legislation on geographic information and defining NSDI, its definition, content, tasks, subjects and participants, bodies and deadlines, in line with INSPIRE. According to the new Law SGA acts as coordination body of NSDI, coordinates all NSDI bodies and provides technical support. It is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the metadata public service on the Internet, through a geoportal, in a way that enables NSDI subjects to interactively maintain the spatial data included in NSDI. The geoportal implementation basically relates to the first step of the INSPIRE implementation plan, namely the harmonization of documenting existing datasets (metadata) and provision of tools to make this documentation accessible. The first step of NSDI geoportal is establishing of SGA geoportal. The NSDI development is a complex process, which will go on for years. The preparation phase resulted with clear defined roadmap. The paper shows activities on establishing of NDSI carried out by the SGA until now.
