Sažetak
Massic activities of U-238 and Ra-226 in sediment of the Kaštela Bay were determined. Factor analysis was applied in order to reveal samples with elevated massic activities. These activities were compared with the average massic activities of the Adriatic coastal sediment (JS) and of the unpolluted Kaštela Bay sediment (KS) and possible anthropogenic influence was discussed. Elevated U-238 and Ra-226 massic activities were determined on five stations. Two groups of samples were differentiated: i) samples with moderately elevated activities, and ii) samples with significantly elevated activities. Moderately elevated U-238 and Ra-226 massic activities were 3–10 times higher than the average massic activities in the JS while compared to the KS U-238 activities were 1.5–5 times higher and Ra-226 activities were 2–6 times higher. Significantly elevated massic activities were found only on one station where U-238 activities were 22–33 times higher and Ra-226 20–36 times higher than the respective average massic activities of the JS. U-238 activities were 10–16 times higher and Ra-226 13–23 times higher than the respective average massic activities in the KS. The obtained results indicate anthropogenic influence and the presence of the TENORM in the Bay.
