Sažetak
In this paper the different social, political, territorial and economical changes on the area of Žumberačko-samoborsko Mountains in the period from 12th to the beginning of 16th century are discussed. This area was bordering area between the medieval Kingdom of Hungary and the Holy Roman Empire. In spite of the fact that this political separation was constancy, the inhabitants of these areas were heavily connected by various familiar, economical and ecclesiastical string. It has to be said that the 12th century was mainly marked by the colonization of the right bank of the river Krka. This colonization is mostly led by German nobility form present Slovenian lands. As some kind of the political response to that colonization was the fact that the Hungarian kings gradually presented the royal castles to the members of the Croatian local nobility in order to stop this German penetration. On the other hand, the period of the end of 13th and the beginning of 14th century present the political and economical domination of the noble kindred of Babonići. They managed to connect both banks of river Krka, as well as the area of Žumberačko-samoborsko Mountains, to their political territory. In contrast to that, the period of 14th century present the period of the restitution of the power and influence of the Hungarian kings on these bordering areas, while the 15th century is mostly depicted by the influence of the Frankapan family, i.e. the Counts of Krk. By making familiar connections with the magnate families from the Holy Roman Empire, the Frankapani managed to politically connect them with the Austrian Habsburgs. This paper ends with the beginning of 16th century, the century during witch many social and political changes occurred by the influence of the constant Ottoman threat.
