Sažetak
The paper considers the expansion of business of marinas into organized anchorages by way of analyzing the basic characteristics of anchorages, their economic and environmental benefits and the importance of marine tourism. The main reasons for this reflection lies in the fact that by expanding their operations into organized anchorage in the surrounding area, marinas could solve problems related to the lack of space and the growing demand by boaters for moorings. This is particularly significant if taking into account that marinas already have a good organizational structure and intellectual capital that could serve this type of business and thus influence the increase in revenue. Development of nautical tourism fundamentally changed the meaning of anchoring and mooring. Sometimes the anchorages were necessary to professional seafarers or fishers in the absence of ports or while waiting to sail into the harbor, while today anchoring is often considered the main purpose and/or goal of navigation. Today anchorages represent for boaters one way of staying at sea, while providing security through the organized acceptance of boats and boaters. The authors define the basic features of anchorages and marinas and explore their relationship. The purpose of the research is to explore the possibilities of business expansion in the marina moorings. The goal of our research is, based on the example of Primorsko-goranska country, to determine the benefits of organized anchoring.
