Sažetak
This paper focuses on applications of TDR technology in the management of tailings. Case study summaries are presented which demonstrate applications of TDR for various aspects of tailings management including continuous monitoring of cover performance, ground water changes, contaminant transport, and slope movement. Recent studies have shown this technology may have the potential to provide a reliable means for real time monitoring of tailings consolidation and the impact on long term storage capacity. Remote monitoring is particularly applicable to post-closure monitoring where savings can be made in personnel costs and alarm systems can be implemented.
