Sažetak
Three-part differential blood count obtained on MEK-8118K (Nihon Kohden) and CELL-DYN (CD) 1700CS (Abbott) hematology analyzers was compared with a reference microscopic method of leukocyte differentiation. A total of 398 physiologically normal and pathologic samples were examined, 129 and 269 of them by evaluation of the differential blood count obtained on MEK-8118K and CD 1700CS analyzers, respectively. Linear regression analysis showed satisfactory coefficients of correlation for lymphocytes (r=0.920 for MEK-8118K and r=0.939 for CD 1700CS) and granulocytes (r=0.940 for MEK-8118K and r=0.924 for CD 1700CS). A considerably lower coefficient of correlation was obtained for the population of mononuclears (r=0.590 for MEK-8118K and r=0.435 for CD 1700CS). Sensitivity and specificity for differential blood count, and the percentage of compatibility of the two methods of differentiation were satisfactory for both analyzers evaluated. Sensitivity and specificity for the MEK-8118K analyzer were 91.0% and 92.0%, and for the CD 1700CS analyzer 92.1% and 88.6%, respectively. The percentage of compatibility was 92.3% for MEK-8118K and 91.1% for CD 1700CS. Evaluation of the instrument "flagging system" for differential blood count showed the messages or flags to be a useful indicator of leukocyte pathologic alterations, pointing to the need of microscopic leukocyte differentiation in the indicated samples. Evaluation of differential blood count obtained on MEK-8118K and CD 1700CS hematology analyzers showed them to be reliable in the screening and differentiation between normal and pathologic differential blood counts.
