Sažetak
As a major consequence of recent climatic variations and enhanced stratification, more frequent reduction of residence time of the bottom layer and unexpected high oxygen consumption in regard to organic production were observed since the late 1980s. Different mechanisms which have determined the extended hypoxic/anoxic events in the northern Adriatic sea were analyzed using long term data series of temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen and chlorophyll a to evidence changes in frequency of hypoxic events in the last decades.
