Sažetak
Aim of the study was to investigate possible changes in the prevalence of various types of thyroid carcinomas during two five-year periods. For that purpose we have reviewed all surgical pathology files between 1987. and 1996. Our interest was limited to the following pathological types of thyroid carcinomas: a) differentiated thyroid carcinomas, (subdivided to papillary and follicular carcinoma); b) medullary thyroid carcinoma and c) anaplastic thyroid carcinoma. In conclusion we may say that although no major changes in the prevalence of differentiated thyiroid carcinoma were observed in the last decade, mild increase of medullary carcinoma (with lowering of female to male ratio) certainly warrants further epidemiological investigations.
