Sažetak
Palynology is the science of palynomorphs, but mainly pollen grains, which are an extra generation in seed plants, perfectly adapted to their role, transport of male genetic material. They are numerous and able to resist environmental and climatic stress, often excellently fossilized and therefore very informative for specific botanical studies. The aim of this work is to present several specific palynological researches, in two senses: application of both light and electron microscopy. Light microscopy is very useful tool in researches of aerobiology, melissopalynology, forensic palynology, biostratigraphy, palaeopalynology etc. Electron microscopy in botanical researches is mainly orientated on analyses of taxonomic and evolutionary implications of pollen grains. Several examples of own researches will be presented: 1.Aerobiological studies of airborne pollen in the air of continental and Mediterranean parts of Croatia ( with emphasis on Ambrosia artemisiifolia airborne pollen) ; 2.Melissopalynological study of continental honeys from continental part of Croatia ; 3.Taxonomical and evolutionary implications of pollen morphology on several studies of Alpine- Dinaric endemic plants (Degenia velebitica, Asperula staliana s.l. etc.) and of the genus Iris from the territory of Southern Europe.
