Sažetak
Two experiments were conducted during 2012 to determine the allelopathic effect of water extracts from fresh and dried roots, stems and leaves of creeping thistle (Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop.) on germination and early growth of winter wheat and winter barley. Inhibitory effect was dependent on recipient species, plant part and method of extraction. All extracts from fresh plant parts showed significant inhibitory effect on seed germination and seedling growth of test plants, except for root extract on shoot length and fresh weight of barley. Extracts from dried plant parts significantly reduced germination and seedling growth, except for root extract which did not inhibited barley seed germination. Leaf extract from both fresh and dried weed biomass had the greatest inhibitory effect, followed by stem and root extracts.
