Sažetak
Central problem of transition in the Croatian economy is low enterprise efficiency. As the reduction of corporate losses means higher domestic savings, and will result in lower interest rates, improved credit allocation, and higher productivity and growth, it is vital to create the best environment for encouraging enterprising spirit which will enable the better results. The role of government is of special significance in relation to lowering losses, or lowering the number of companies which are large loss-makers, downsizing and restructuring state enterprises, creating comprehensive labor adjustment programs, improving management educational levels, trade liberalization with reference to market strengthening, and completing the privatization agenda.
