Sažetak
We have registrated nontraumatic fractures 3 years before the Center for osteoporosis has been founded (1996-1998) and last 3 years (1999-2001), during which we educate patients about risk factors and complications of osteoporosis. Patients were devided into 2 groups according to sex and age. Our results show as follows: 3 years before the education and measuring bone density, we had 1078 fractures (242 of the spine, 262 of forearm, 547 of the hip). In last 3 years and education, total number of fractures has been reduced for 8, 54% and we had 986 fractures. We had decrease of spine fractures (76, 45% (N=57), forearm fractures were increased for 47.64% (N=490) and hip fracture were decreased for 23, 2% (N=439). During both periods number of spine fractures in male and female was almost the same. Females had twice more forearm fractures than male, and hip fracture was more frequent in females, but insignificant. It is obvious that in both period, more frequent fractures were in the elderly group of patients: spine fractures form 55.75 years, forearm till 65 years and hip fracture older than 75 years of age. We have noticed the change of frequency of fracture locations: from 1996-1998 we had 22, 44% of spinal fracture, 24, 3% of forearm and 53, 25% of hip fracture. 3 years after the Center for osteoporosis has been founded, we had 5, 78% of spinal fracture, 49, 65% of forearm and 44, 52% of hip fractures.
