Sažetak
Osijek's fortress Tvrdja is Osijek's unique baroque urban ensemble. Formed within an Austrian fortification built at the beginning of 18th century, during the war with the Turks, it outlasted the demolition of forteress walls in 1926 and survived centuries neglected. It was badly damaged in the war years of 1991 and 1992, what finally prompted a call for its revival. But nine years after the war, the reconstruction of Tvrdja is still sporadic and unsystematic. This article presents a short outline of the history, organization and present condition of Tvrdja's architectonic heritage as well as certain ideas on Tvrdja's revival and reconstruction.
