Sažetak
Tvrdja is an 18th century urban fortress at the heart of Osijek, capital of Eastern Croatia, and its 106 buildings – originally residential houses and army barracks - form a unique example of baroque fortification architecture. Croatian governement has applied to put Tvrdja on the UNESCO list of protected architectural heritage but one of the main problems blocking this application is Tvrdja’s present management. This article will try to elaborate various aspects of Tvrdja’s maintenance and reconstruction like financing options, parties responsible for its management as well as documents and laws dealing with Croatian architectural heritage protection in general and Tvrdja in particular.
