Sažetak
Since the beginnings of history many "plagues" were recorded in historical sources. Plague was the common name for many epidemic diseases that caused many deaths: Plague of Athens (Pericles' death), the Plague of Justinian and one of the deadliest pandemics in human history The Black Death, the pandemics of bubonic plague which is the best-known manifestation of the bacterial disease plague. Plague is the primary disease of rodents and humans are only secondary aim in the disease cycle. Bacteria called Yersinia Pestis causes it and it is vectored to humans by Xenopsilla Cheopis, which lived in rats. Through the whole Middle Ages many epidemics broke out, but the most famous and brutal was the above mentioned Black Death in 1347. It wiped out almost the half population of Europe. After the last big outbreak in 1665 epidemics have become more rare and with finding of penicillin and its common appliance (in 20th) century, plague was practically wiped out from history, although even today is present throughout the world more than we commonly think.
