Sažetak
We examine convergence and divergence of media systems of the post-socialist states in southeastern Europe, which were Republics in the Socialist Federal Republic Yugoslavia until their independence in 1990’s. Countries in question include, from the west to the east, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo, and Macedonia. One of the countries is today a member in the EU, one is expected to join in 2013, and others are in different stages of expectation of European integration. Their media systems are examined within the framework of the indicators for five main dimensions influencing the structure of media systems within the Hallin and Mancini model (2004, 2012) – the political history and context, media market development, the media and the state, political parallelism, and journalistic professionalism.
