Sažetak
This paper examines generic aspects of J. R. R. Tolkien’s works reflected in his attempts to combine religious elements, myth and fantasy. The paper discusses differences and similarities between mytophoeia, fantasy, fairy story, science fiction fantasy and the way they are combined in The Lord of the Rings. The paper argues that these generic aspects are vital for the interpetation of Tolkein’s works. In order to illustrate how Tolkein combines these genres some elements of Christian mythology and Biblical archetypes in The Lord of the Ring are also examined.
