Sažetak
This presentation considers some forms of religious and spiritual movements that have evolved in western postmodern society as well as their role in shaping contemporary spiritual market. The paper compares statistical data regarding institutional religiosity from EU, and Croatia, and for Alternative Religious Movements. It is claimed that populist attraction of new spiritual movements is not in restatement of some old ethical or doctrinal values, although it makes them more appealing, but in their pragmatic ability to offer, as instantly as possible, an experiential relief of psychological and physiological stress and strains created by hectic modern life.
