Sažetak
Musical genious and one of the greatest of all composers, Jobann Sebastian Bach, comes from a big family of musicians in Germany. He was the most famous representative of all six generations. Only after a considerable period after his death he became famous for his composing, not only for his excellent organ construction, superb clavier and organ playing or teaching. He married twice and had 20 children. Two of his sons became well known composers. J.S.Bach was rather robust and short tempered so he had problems with people around him. Considering his appearance (short but well built) and his temper we might suppose he had high blood pressure. During his life he was a very healthy man. Last two years of his life his vision began to fail rapidly and soon he became blind - he had ti) dictate notes. It was probably glaucoma: his age, acute development, strong pains in the eye, lake of light perception in the last period of illness - point to the possible hemorrhagic glaucoma. So J.S.Bach sought help from oculist. It happened that "Chevalier" John Taylor was in Leipzig at that time. He was an English - Royal oculist, well known for his cataracta surgeries. One of his patients was George Friedrich Haendel. He performed two surgeries on J.S.Bach in 1749 and 1750 but without any success. The second surgery was complicated with fatal stroke followed by fever, as noticed in obituary by his son C.Ph.Bach, and he died on July 28th,1750.
