Sažetak
Reverse osmosis membrane desalination processes for drinking water production in the world and in the Adriatic islands have been reviewed. A development of the reverse osmosis desalination and its advantages over the classical methods for the solution of water shortage problem are considered. The present day status of the desalination facilities and new projects for the Adriatic islands are described along with the investment and osmosis desalination technology are discussed.
