Sažetak
Abstract: Based on the established etiological association of Helicobacte pylori with gastroenterlogic diseases, the necessity to treat any Helicobacter pylori has been increasigly recognized. Our porpouse was to examine the correlation between the gastrointestinal symptoms and the serologic finding of H. Pylori infection in a smaller group of patients under diylysis treatment. In this study 15 patients, 10 males , 5 females, of median age 48.5 (range 27-70) years, with terminal renal failure treated with chronic intermittent haemodialysis were analysed. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) used in the current roeutine diagnosis and investigations of H. Pylori due to their high sensitivity, acceptable specificity, and easy appliance, were employed in this study. Seven of 15 dialysed patients were infected with H. Pylori. 90 percent of patients positive to H. Pylori had been on dialysis for more then 6 months. In the control group, consisting of 20 subjects, H. pylori was found in 11 individuals (58.6 per cent). No differences have been found in the occurence of gastrointestinal symptoms between the H. Pylori positive and H. Pylori negative patients treated by chronic intermittent haemodialysis.
