Sažetak
This article deals with the definitions of literariness in new media forms. Vague differentiation of media forms that has accompanied the development of new theoretical concepts brought about the situation where multimedia, hybrid works are often being categorized and analyzed in the same way as works of literature. This paper explores certain omissions within that sort of classifications. The question arises whether these new instances of electronic literature actually mean reaching “new horizons” (Hayles) for literature, or whether digital works in fact move further from the literary domain and enter the sphere of hybridity, to say the least, and in some cases even come close to visual arts or gaming. This paper focuses on problematic genres in new media and borderline cases where the very concept of literariness and the practice of expanding the literary field are disputed.
