Sažetak
The fauna investigation in Croatia has a long tradition. Key pests and their enemies in orchards and vineyards were identified as result of our long time investigation. Unfortunately, we have no experience in evaluating side-effects of pesticides to non-target arthropods under laboratory conditions. Our experience was made under field conditions. Key pests and their enemies depend on plant, geographic and climatic zones. The main pest in pear orchards in Slavonia is Cacopsylla piry. The main regulators of their population are bugs, like: Orius niger, Pilophorus perplexus and Anthocoris nemoralis. Testing of pesticides on side-effects must concentrate on them. HETEROPTERA population increases from summer to autumn. In apple orchards, treatments with fungicides against Venturia inaequalis are the most common. The side-effect investigation must be focussed on predatory mites which are especially important in the biological control of red spider mite. In our olive orchards, Chysoperla carnea is the dominant beneficial organism. Testing side-effect of pesticides which are used in olive orchard must concentrate on this insect. In vineyards, investigation was carried out on side-effects of fungicides on the population of Panonychus ulmi and on predatory mites, such as Typhlodromus pyri.
