Posebna pozornost posveena je kolokacijama, naro ito iz podru ja ESP-a. U radu se nalazi devet aktivnosti od kojih je prva aktivnost kratki test s kolokacijama iz ESP-a koji su rjeaavali sudionici radionica (izvorni i neizvorni govornici engleskog jezika) kako bi se vidjela razlika u poznavanju kolokacija izmeu izvornih i neizvornih govornika engleskog jezika. Zatim su se prikazale neke tehnike i ideje za usvajanje i uvje~bavanje kolokacija posebice u podru ju poslovnog engleskog jezika i medicinske struke. Klju ne rije i: leksi ki isje ci, kolokacije, ESP, poslovni engleski jezik, engleski jezik medicinske struke Uvod Tijekom podu avanja ESP-a (English for Specific Purposes  Engleski za posebne svrhe) uo eno je da mnogi studenti imaju problema s uporabom leksi kih isje aka. esto nisu sigurni koja je kombinacija to na i uglavnom se oslanjaju na materinji jezik, pa ine mnoge pogreake. Kako bi im se pomoglo, koriste se mnoge aktivnosti koje je lako napraviti, a vrlo su u inkovite. U proalosti su se rije i uglavnom podu avale izdvojene ili su studenti bili prisiljeni u iti cijele re enice napamet, ne znajui zna enje pojedinih rije i. Unazad nekoliko godina ta praksa se mijenja. Umjesto podu avanja pojedinih rije i, rije i se sve viae podu avaju u njihovom okru~enju, s rije ima koje se u re enici nalaze prije ili poslije njih. Nazivaju se kolokacijama, ali kako ponekad mo~e biti nedoumica je li neka sintagma kolokacija ili fraza ili neka druga vrsta kombinacije rije i, koristimo izraz leksi ki isje ak (lexical chunk) Termin kolokacija upotrijebio je prvi put lingvist J. R. Firth pedesetih godina 20. stoljea. Kolokacije se nalaze negdje u sredini izmeu slobodnih kombinacija rije i na jednom kraju i idioma na drugom kraju. One spajaju semanti ku transparentnost 'slobodnih kombinacija' i sintagmatska ograni enja idioma. Nakon Firtha javljaju se lingvisti s razli itim shvaanjima i tuma enjima kolokacija. Meu njima va~no je istaknuti M. A. K. Hallidayja i J. Sinclaira koji isti u va~nost leksi kih kolokacija (kolokacija koje se sastoje od leksi kih isje aka). Oni su uveli i nove termine u istra~ivanju kolokacija  vor (node)  termin koji se odnosi na leksi ku cjelinu ija kolokacija se prou ava, raspon (span)  broj leksi kih isje aka sa svake strane vora za koje se smatra da su relevantni za njega, kolokati (collocates)  cjeline koje se nalaze u okru~enju definiranom rasponom. Kolokati se mogu nalaziti ispred ili iza vora. Kolokate ispred vora J. Sinclair naziva uzlaznim kolokacijama (upward collocations), a C. J. Gledhill lijevim kolokacijama, dok kolokate iza vora Sinclair naziva silaznim kolokacijama (downward collocations), a Gledhill desnim kolokacijama. Cilj ovog rada je pokazati aktivnosti kojima se studentima ukazuje na va~nost leksi kih isje aka. Aktivnosti su prezentirane na radionici koja je odr~ana na meunarodnoj konferenciji profesora engleskog jezika IATEFL-a (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language) u Cardiffu, Velika Britanija, 2009. godine. Naglasak je bio na usvajanju leksi kih isje aka koje se sastoje od imenice i kolokata koji joj prethodi (tzv. uzlazne kolokacije). Sadr~aj Radionica se sastojala od devet aktivnosti. 1. Cilj prve aktivnosti bio je ispitati sudionike (koji su bili izvorni i neizvorni govornici engleskog jezika) koliko poznaju leksi ke cjeline. Sudionici su bili podijeljeni u dvije skupine. Jedna skupina je dobila test iz medicinske struke, a druga iz poslovnog engleskog jezika. Testovi su predvieni za nadopunjavanje, bez ponuenih rjeaenja (gap-filling). Nakon zavraenog testiranja, pokazana je folija s moguim rjeaenjima. Folija je nastala na temelju provedenog istra~ivanja u kojem su sudjelovali hrvatski profesori engleskog jezika, koji ne podu avaju ESP. Kurzivom su navedene rije i koje su naveli sudionici, a podebljane rije i u zagradi ozna avaju naj eau kolokaciju koja se mo~e pronai u korpusu. He made/put/built/set/took (set) it up ten years ago to cater for students and he has done extremely well. He does (does) a lot of rental business with the tourist trade at local hotels. In his first year of operations he undertook experienced/made/had (made) a loss, but his sales figures for his second year showed an upturn and he has never looked back since. Indeed you could say that business is currently booming/blooming/thriving/flourishing (booming) as he has just won/concluded/made/signed (won) an important new contract with a chain of fitness centres. There was a stiff competition but Jan won/got/gave/ put (put) in a bid which was more attractive than anything that rival presented/offered/had/did (struck/did). As a result Jans company is planning to open/offer/start/create (create) new jobs. 2. U drugoj aktivnosti sudionici su, ponovno podijeljeni u dvije skupine, dobili tekst iz medicinskog ili poslovnog engleskog i trebali su podcrtati leksi ke cjeline za koje su smatrali da su va~ne i da bi ih njihovi u enici/studenti trebali znati. U tu svrhu mo~e se koristiti bilo koji tekst u kojem se mogu pronai zanimljive kombinacije rije i i zatim se mo~e raspravljati o va~nosti pojedinih leksi kih isje aka. 3. Sudionici se podijele u dvije skupine i umjesto da pogaaju jednu rije , trebaju pogoditi etiri rije i na temelju slova koja uzvikuju. Sljedea aktivnost bila je uo avanje pogreanih kolokacija. Sudionici su dobili re enice s neto nim kolokacijama koje su trebali ispraviti. (end) 9. Posljednja i sudionicima najomiljenija aktivnost bila je igra asocijacija. Na plo i se nacrta tablica s etiri stupca i aest redova i sudionici otvaraju polja (npr. A-1, B-4, C-2 itd.). Pokuaavaju pogoditi rije  u petom redu ispod svakog stupca i kona nu rije  u aestom redu koja kolokira sa sva etiri rjeaenja u petom redu. Provodei ove aktivnosti korak po korak, od najjednostavnijih (prepoznavanje leksi kih isje aka, spajanje, ispravljanje pogreanih kolokacija) do najslo~enijih gdje se studenti poti u na samostalno osmialjavanje leksi kih isje aka bez ponuenih leksema, studente se motivira na bavljenje ovim leksi kim problemima kako bi lakae zapamtili kombinacije rije i i samostalno formirali leksi ke cjeline. Ovako strukturirane aktivnosti mogu se provoditi na svim stupnjevima u enja jezika i u bilo kojem podru ju jezika struke iako su ovdje pokazani primjeri iz engleskog jezika poslovne i medicinske struke. Summary The aim of this paper is to show some of the ways of acquiring lexical chunks. The emphasis is put primarily on collocations, particularly from the ESP area. The paper includes nine activities among which the first one is a short test in ESP collocations done by workshop participants (both native and non-native English speakers) in order to see the difference in knowledge between native and non-native speakers of English. Then, some of the techniques and ideas were given to show some of the ways for acquiring and practising collocations particularly in the field of business and medicine.
