Sažetak
Rapid economic and social development implies the need for a quick and dynamic development of transport, especially related to implementation of modern transport technologies. Modern transport technologies fulfill the newly created requests as speed, dependability, efficiency, downsizing and security. In addition to having an impact on the commodity price and location of production objects, modern transportation systems also have an impact on investment cost-effectiveness and thereby on the level and the structure of international exchange. The authors will examine the possibilities for implementation of modern transport systems into Croatian maritime ports which is important for Croatia as a profoundly sea-oriented country. Modes of ITS technology application with special emphasis on the learning capacity of the system will also be examined on the example of Croatia. Due to the development of the system in a dynamic environment, flexibility of the system and its environment will be examined in the sense of quick adaptability to new changes.
