Sažetak
Management of water quality in karst is a specific problem. Water generally moves very fast by infiltration processes but far more by concentrated flows through fissures. This enables the entire surface pollution to be transferred fast and without filtration into groundwater and springs. A typical example is the Jadro spring near Split. During rainfalls water quality temporarily exceeds allowable standards for water supply. Former practice in problem solving has been intensive water disinfection. However, while disinfectants like chlorine (D) is efficient in control of many microorganisms, it, at the same time, react with natural organic matter forming for health dangerous DBPs. An optimal quantity of the disinfectant together with proper purification can minimize the potential DBP risk. The main prerequisite for that is the good knowledge of raw water quality. Previous results show that monitoring of the precipitation-flow-turbidity process provide necessary information for management of water purification system.
