Sažetak
Great number of children in Republic Croatia are included in preschool institution during the day becouse of parents' employment. That indicated introduction of psychologists in kindergartens with a view to improving the proper quality of rearing and education of young children (one to seven) in institution and prevention (primary and secondary) of psychological problems. The main part of psychologist's work is the proper organization centre's activities as basic prevention. Development of each child and age- group has been followed. The obtained data are used for identification of children with special needs. Psychologist works with parents individualy and in group (councelling, treatment and education). Intensive education with nurses and teachers is conducted in the areas of developmental, educational and health psychology. Important of teacher's personality is stressed. Our longitudinal data about separational crisis and behavioural disorders show that those disorders are in decline. That could be the effect of inproved work organization and better preparation of parents and children before coming in center, as well as more flexible teachers' attitude toward developmental and situational needs and problems of children.
