Sažetak
The goal of the study was to evaluate hepatopoietin protein bands in patients with liver cirrhosis and their comparison to biochemical markers of liver cirrhosis. Hepatopoietin extract (hPHP) was isolated from plasma of 30 liver cirrhosis patients and 25 healthy volunteers by method of Goldberg et. al. and Topić et al. Protein bands of the hPHP extract were divided using SDS-PAGE electrophoresis. Electrophoresis results showed three protein bands in the area of 30.00-50.00 D of molecular mass. Band A with molecular mass of 41, 700D, band b 30, 000 and band C 33, 800. 92% patients with liver cirrhosis had a positive band A, 97% band B and 85% band C. In the control group, 80% subjects had bank A, 88% band B and 80% band C. Comparing the biochemical markers, band A had the most frequency in patients with ALT and AST values that were more than threefold higher than SD referent value. Band B had the most frequency in patients with bilirubin, AST, AP, GGt, AFP and CHE values that were above the upper limit of the reference interval. The lowest frequency of band C was found in all patients regardless which biochemical marker was evaluated.
