Sažetak
Education as a complex individual and social phenomenon we can comprehend and analyze from more aspects and on different levels. First of all, education is being considered as a social process of transmission the experiences, knowledge and values from the older generation to the younger one. Each individual gets the treasure left by the previous generations, develops it and improves oneself and enriches, according to his ability, his generation and the society in general. It is the social and generation aspect of education.
From the individual aspect education is observed as the process of the personality development. Our attention is paid to each individual, the experiences he got and transformed in his personal experience so that it become the treasure in himself. It is the result of formal and organized learning at school as well as informal and unorganized learning in family and every day life. The third aspect considers education as the process of personal influence between parent and child, teacher and pupil through theirs activities. It means that that the interaction and the communication are the primary processes the education is based upon.
They do not occur in vacuum but in the real human relationship. The education as an interactive and communicative process is influenced not only by conscious but even more by unconscious mechanisms. Holistic approach to education motivates us to re-define and re-organize the system of training and improvement teachers. Contemporary contents and active methods, together with the knowledge about education, should help the teacher to become aware of himself and his role as educator for new century.
