Sažetak
In the course of time, the Gothic sculptures of the Madonna in inland Croatia underwent transformations due to changes in reception. During the Counter-Reformation, these sculptures became politically important for Croatia’s Catholic society, which resulted in changes in form and iconography. Some of these sculptures, particularly those in museums, underwent another important transformation in 20th-century restoration, which came as a result of the increased secular interest in their historic and artistic value.
