Sažetak
Management of cervical lesions depends of accurate cytological diagnosis followed by histological diagnosis of punch biopsy. In addition, to those classical approaches new biomarkers seems to be promising in additional confirmation of cytological and histological diagnosis. In this study, we intended to evaluate the correlation between cytology and histology as well as p16 and pRb immunohistochemical staining in 50 cervical specimens, mostly cervical intraepithelial nepolasia (CIN) grade 1 to 3. There was statistically significant but low correlation (Spearman's correlation = 0.345, P=0.0164) between biopsy and cytology that is expected given the low sensitivity of cytology in general. After cervical treatment the cytology was mostly normal (Spearman's correlation = 0.375, P= P=0.0448) as expected. Although there is a concomitant increasing p16 staining and decreasing pRb staining with the severity of the cytological or histological diagnosis, it was not statistically significant. The p16 staining was only statistically significantly (Spearman's correlation = 0.673, P<0.0001) indication of increasing hitological grade of biopsy.
