Sažetak
The aim of this study was to establish possible efficacy of Hypericin,the active principle of Hypericum Perforatum,known for its antidepressant effect and rare and mild sideeffects.34 subjects,veterans with PTSD entered a 10-weeks trial comparing hypericin N1-16 and fluoxetin N2-18,wich efficacy in PTSD is established in numerous studies already.All subjects were included in a trauma-centered psychotherapy program as well in day hospital setting.By week 10,reexpirience symptoms were sygnificantly better reduced in group with hypericin and the effects of both,hypericin and fluoxetine on depression,anxiety,numbing and arousal symptoms were the same as assesed by the HTQ,Croatian veteran version and HSCL.We can conclude that Hypericin is as effective pharmacotheraputic agent as fluoxetin for treating PTSD and its associated features.
