Sažetak
This paper aims to illustrate the connection between prefixed, primarily motion verbs followed (or not) by a preposition in the Croatian language from a cognitive (relativistic) perspective. It predominantly focuses on spatial meanings, which are prototypical meanings of prepositions, but it also includes the analysis of meaning extensions in relation to the spatial domain. In order to verify the relation between spatial cognition and language, a survey was conducted among native speakers of Croatian, providing insightful data to underpin the claim that the perception of space and spatial relations shapes different linguistic structures.
