calculation of strength of pair of gears teeth; elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication theory.
Sažetak
Motor vehicles are typically equipped with gear boxes and transmissions that have to satisfy rigorous requirements such as long lifetime, high efficiency, ability to withstand high shock loading and in addition a requirement for as low mass as possible together with the lowest overall dimensions.
In distinction from the so far known approaches, this paper presents a method of calculation of the strength of gear tooth flank through a developed calculation method in which the elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication theory is applied. This new approach results with a unique formula by means of which it is possible to check the strength of gear tooth flank with respect to pitting, seizure, wear and plastic strain. It has not been possible before to include all of these parameters in a unique formula.
The paper gives the methodology of application of elasto-hydrodynamic theory which produced a formula to be used in designing pairs of gears or in checking the calculation of the gear tooth flank strength. This calculation can be applied to gear box and transmission design.
