Sažetak
Goal: The main of this research is to show if schizophrenic patients and students of general medicine have been in their (our) culture of usual eating. Subjects: 31 schizophrenic patients (m-17, f-14) who were included in the definite program of Daily hospital for psychotic patients of Department of social psychiatry at Psychiatric clinic in Rijeka during January 2008 were inquired in this pilot-study. Also 30 students (m-10, f-20) at the 4th degree of study of general medicine at Medical school in Rijeka who passed the examination into one of the elective objects conected with schizophrenia during January 2008 were inquired in this pilot-study as one control group. Bouth groups were inquired in the condition of voluntariness and anonymity. Methods: One special structured questionaire with three groups of questions (1-about the kind of nutrition, the reason of consumation the food and its duration, 2-the psychiatric and/or a physic illness and their duration and 3-the individual social, demographical and cultural characteristics of examinees) was used in this research. Results are presented in tables with the absolute and/or relative values which were interpreted by the descriptive method. Results: About the half of subjects have consumed the usual food of our culture of eating. About 1/5 of schizophrenic patients have eaten this food because various reasons during more than 5 last years. About 2/3 of the students have eaten this food because the style of life during more than 5 last yaras. About 2/3 of the patients have suffered because the psychic illnes more than 5 last years but about 1/4 of them have also suffered from the physic illness last 2 to 3 years. Only two students have suffered because the easy psychic disorders last 2 to 3 years and one student has suffered from the physic illness. Conclusion: A lot of results of this pilot-study show that our schizophrenic patients and our students of general medicine not yet feel conscious that the adequate food is also able to be one of medicaments in the 21st century.
