Sažetak
The first part gives the basic historical information about the presence of Muslims in the area of the Croatian, where, among other sources, data from residents’ list are used. Special attention is dedicated Muslims’ status in socialist Yugoslavia, with an emphasis on the specific constitutional solution according to which the believers’ membership is equalized with national affiliation. Position of the members of the Islamic community in an independent Croatia is tasken in detailed consideration, where the greatest attention is dedicate to current problems with whom the Muslim-Bosniaks met. It turned out that these problems are closely related to certain unresolved political problems between the Croatian and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that there are good grounds for their settlement. Open issues were observed in the context of threatened human rights and religious freedom. In the terminal part of article the results of socioreligious research conducted 1996th in the area of Franciscan provinces in Croatia and Bosnia are given, in a sample of 498 faithful Catholics. Questions concerning the relationship of Catholics, Muslims and Orthodox Christians were analyzed. The results showed that there is social distance between Catholics and Muslims, which is already slightly higher the distance between the Catholics and Orthodox.
