Sažetak
Deposits from the Upper Paleozoic to Jurassic and Cretaceous of the Velebit Mt. are assigned to the three major sedimnetary megasequences, each separated by a terrestrial phase: 1) Middle Carboniferous - Middle Permian ; 2) Middle Permian - Middle Triassic, and 3) Upper Triassic - Jurassic and Cretaceous. Profile from Kubus-pass (Gospić-Karlobag road) contain continuity from the uppermost part of the Lower Lias to the Middle and Upper Lias with a total thickness of approximately 270m. Shallow-water carbonate deposits was divided into fife litofacies units: 1) Units A, rhythmically alternating mudstone/wackestone and ooid grainstone are interpreted as typical peritidal deposits ; 2) Unit B, lagoonal to shallow subtidal black mudstones with packstone/floatstone intercalations ; 3) Unit C, rhythmically alternating mudstone/wackestone and grainstone/rudstones were deposited in restricted shallow-water areas (lagoonal and shallow-subtidal zones) with periodically agitated water brought in coarse carbonate detritus ; 4) Unit D, shallow -subtidal lagoonal limestones with Litiotid tempestite coquinas and 5) Unit E, bioturbated "spotty limestones" as pure mudstones to peletal wackestones were deposited with a low sedimentation rate in a calm, large shallows beneath the fair-weather wave base, large portion of organic matter and good ecological conditions for mud-eaters.
