Sažetak
Under field conditions without weed control, yield losses vary between 10% and 100% depending on a crop and its competitive ratio. Due to a broad acceptance of the integrated weed management, the herbicide consumpti on has gradually been reduced during the last years. The present four-year study was carried out to investigate the effects of the herbicide combinati ons with recommended and reduced amounts on the level of weed infestation and maize productivity. The applicati on of herbicides significantly affected the weed infestation level. The differences in weed fresh weight between areas treated with recommended herbicide amounts and with a half of those amounts were not significant except in 2007, as well as, the values of the maize leaf area, plant height, biomass and grain yield. The potential decreases in weed fresh matter and increases in maize grain yield have led many producers to consider using lower amounts of herbicides and benefit integrated weed management and environment protection
