Sažetak
Introduction: For the last twenty years systematic work with alcohol addicts, who had previously been treted in the Psychiatric Clinic of Clinical Hospital Center in Rijeka, is in progress. In this overview the emphasis is on group supportive therapy and its effects on better verbalization and thought-out activities in every life of participants (members) of the group. Aim: To apply certain theoretical theses of group therapy in a process of better verbalization and the whole activity of treated alcohol addicts. Methods: Linkage of therapeutic experience and knowledge in noting several states: intrapsychic, intrapersonal and transpersonal in a group of alcohol addicts ( medium sized, open type group, heterogeneous concerning gender, age, marital status, level of education and employment status). Results: Majority of treated alcohol addicts do not manifest craving towards alcohol. Most of them are working on their better social-working functioning, and almost all of them show interest towards their closest family members and people of their micro-social surroundings. Discussion and conclusion: There is the need to discuss the following: in what extent the work with this group led to better auto-affirmation, sense of belonging as well as to the possibility of building the thought-out future. The results show that a large number of former alcohol addicts started to verbalize better, offer and even show thought-out activities, all with the purpose of better quality of their own lives.
