Sažetak
The chapter of the book presents in-depth and detailed account of the investment laws in Croatia. After introductory remarks on most recent Croatian history, the authors elaborate on the framework and hierarchy of foreign investments laws and treaties. In this light, the author analyse the the respective articles of the Croatian Constitution, the Companies Act, the General Administrative Act and the Civil Procedure Act. Afterwards, the authors elaborate on the standards of treatment of foreign investment, entry and performance requirements from the position of undertaking various business activities, tax treatment, labor regulation and market competition regulation. Additionally, investments contract regulation is explained from the position of a Croatian regulatory framework. In relation to the regulatory tax framework, the authors more specifically elaborate on the general tax regime within Croatian, double taxation treaties and incentives system designed to attract foreign investments. Afterwards, Croatian property rights, expropriation and compensation system is analysed. Close attention is given to regulation of intellectual property and expropriation. Finally, the authors provide insight into the Croatian monetary transfer regulation and dispute settlement regulation. The work concludes with the FDI statistics, policies and authorities.
