Sažetak
In order to improve the quality of foster care for children with disabilities research goal was to get insight into the experiences of foster parents who provide their care (N=6). Data were collected using focus group methodology. In other quantitative research in order to improve the quality of foster care for persons with mental disorders research, to get insight into the experiences of their foster parents (N=8) data were collected using semi-structured interviews. To conduct a focus group and interview previously was prepared list of questions or specific topics, which were used as an interview guide or guide for discussion in focus group. Qualitative survey of foster care models in Europe was designed in cooperation with the Forum for Quality Foster Care. For survey purposes, a qualitative approach to data collection and processing was selected. Questionnaires was developed in order to get insight into the foster care models, legislation and practices concerning foster care, and obtain some recommendations for improving foster care practices. The questionnaire consisted of a series of open-ended questions covering some aspects of foster care practices. Out of the 30 sent requests, we received questionnaires from 12 countries. Content analysis as analytical tool has been used in this researches. Qualitative content analysis is a research method for the subjective interpretation of the content of text data through the systematic classification process of coding and identifying themes or patterns. During research as researcher we had some dilemmas related to methodological limitations of the qualitative approach. Each of the various features of qualitative research may be viewed as strength or as a weakness. This depends on the original purpose of the research. Nevertheless, based on methodological insights obtained during this study we provided the guidelines for the design process of future similar studies.
