Sažetak
Information and communication technologies are dialectically intertwined with all aspects of contemporary life. They connect people living at various continents, and alienate next-door neighbours. They help people to learn about sex, and cause sexual addition which impaires their daily sexual functioning. In educational praxis, information and communication technologies offer many anarchist opportunities such as democratic construction of relevant knowledge offered by Wikipedia (Jandric, 2010). At the same time, however, they represent a constant threat of dehumanization and global control (Zerzan, 2004 ; Illich, 1971 & 1973 ; Heidegger, 1981). In my theoretical work, I have dealt with various aspects of the complex relationships between information and communication technologies and (anarchist) education. In my classroom, however, it is often very difficult to find an adequate balance between the conflicting positive and negative aspects of the relationship between information and communication technologies and education. Let us look into few examples. As an anarchist, I am clearly against all kinds of intellectual property because it is harmful for the whole society and education in particular (Stallman, 2002). As university teacher, however, I am obliged to penalize students who scan copyrighted books. As an anarchist, I am clearly against the priviledged knowledge offered by various encyclopaedias. As univeristy teacher, however, I cannot allow students to use Wikipedia as one of the main sources in their work. As early as 1979, such position has been described by the London Edinburgh Weekend Return Group as 'in and against the State'. We still work in and against the State. However, both educators and the State have rapidly changed in the context of globalization and information and communication technologies. In a recent study (2011) I have adapted the conclusions developed by the London Edinburgh Weekend Return Group to the context of radical monopoly of contemporary information and communication technologies, and identified oppositional possibilities for critical action against radical monopoly of information and communication technologies in the context of educational praxis. Inspired by success of my earlier study, in this paper I will analyze the conclusions developed by the London Edinburgh Weekend Return Group in the context of the relationship between anarchist ideals, information and communication technologies and educational praxis. On such basis, I will identify oppositional possibilities for anarchist direct action for teachers who use information and communication technologies in their daily struggle in and against the State.
