Sažetak
Intensive cruise ship berthing and maneuvering in the port of Dubrovnik for the past several years, potentially endangers the ecology of the wider port and town area. It induced the questions about introducing and development of efficient environment protection service. High-quality oil spill simulation and prediction system is certainly one of it´s important elements. The hypothetical case of oil spill caused by cruise ship failure in the port of Dubrovnik is analyzed using circulation model coupled with the oil spill model. Oil spill model takes into account convective-dispersive transport and reactive processes such as emulsification, evaporation and heat transfer between oil, sea and the atmosphere. The hypothetical scenario includes the cruise ship failure on 10/10/11 at the berth. The failure results with continuous and steady point source oil flux of 7.5 kg/s during the period of 1 hour (total of 27 tons of oil spilled). The simulations of the oil slick spread, covers the time span of 7 days after the hypothetical incident, from 10/10/11 to 17/10/11.
