Sažetak
The new railway line from the State Border (Botovo) via Zagreb to Rijeka stretches along the corridor of the existing line on the sector from the border to Dugo Selo and from Hrvatski Leskovac to Karlovac. From Karlovac the track runs along a completely new corridor going via ZveËaj, Josipdol, Velika Kapela, Novi Vinodolski to Rijeka (Krasica). The path on the new corridor passes through exceptionally rough terrain, geologically complicated areas and protected nature reserves and represents a great planning and design challenge. The idea to build this corridor surpasses the significance of merely a traffic direction ; it is an endeavour in the integral urban-traffic revalorisation of central Croatia, namely the Karlovac and PrimorskoGoranska County. This construction is important for the entire Croatian economy, particularly for the development of the port of Rijeka and its connection to the ports of Koper and Trieste and the European railways system. As the new alignment shortens the path by about 50 km, it will significantly contribute to the reduction in transportation costs in relation to the current state. This work gives a review of the drawing up of the study-design documentation for the mentioned corridor of the new railway line, primarily with an assessment of sector III from Zagreb to Rijeka, which is currently defined by contract. The work deals with the problems which occur in designing such a complicated infrastructure object, primarily due to insufficient domestic regulations in this field.
