Sažetak
In today’s global economy many organizations are experimenting and trying to improve and upgrade the generation of knowledge where specific practices and activities associated with these efforts are known as organizational knowledge management. Knowledge management makes significant impact on the management approach at all project levels. This paper provides an assessment of independent factors that might influence knowledge management in project work in order to determine the necessity for different approaches in knowledge management depending upon independent characteristics of the firm or project team members. The theoretical part of the paper describes issues relating knowledge management and project work. The empirical part of the paper is based on a research on knowledge management in project work based on Fedor et al. (2003) survey instrument. A total of 67 completed questionnaires were collected during the study from both product and service oriented organizations. The research results indicate that among independent characteristics of organizations explored within this research (product/service orientation, ownership structure and firm size) knowledge management inputs significantly differ only among firms with different ownership structures. The second hypothesis was based on the exploration of respondents’ characteristics (age, gender, education, hierarchical level) and perceptions of project knowledge management output. The results indicate absence of any statistically significant differences in knowledge management output based on respondents’ independent characteristics.
