Sažetak
CROATIA During 2010, the 10th Ivo Kerdić memorial – triennial of Croatian medals and small sculpture was held in Osijek. This provided an opportunity for a retrospective of the past thirty years of Croatian medal making. Numerous Croatian sculptors and medal makers with various experience and artists of various profile – prom painters to architects – contributed greatly to this leading national manifestation of medal making and miniature sculpture with their exhibits. Dr. Ivan Mirnik is the author of an important catalogue and exhibition called „Donations to the Numismatic Collection of the Archaeological Museum (December 2010 – March 2011). More than 1200 items were presented and most of them were executed in the Zagreb workshop of experienced engraver and medal maker Vladimir Mataušić. Sculptures, coins and medals created by Damir Mataušić, the most productive Croatian medal maker of the younger generation, were included in the comprehensive monograph put together by Bogdan Mesinger and Nedeljko Pintarić (publisher: Školska knjiga, Zagreb, November 2010). Dr. Ivan Mirnik of the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb was also the author of the exhibition „Ruđer Bošković on medals and money“, organized to honour the 300th anniversary of the birth of this globally renowned Croatian scientist (November- December 2011). Dr. Mirnik gave on October 18th, as the guest of the Royal Numismatic Society in London, and outstanding presentation on Croatian medals depicting Ruđer Bošković. Tatijana Gareljić, the curator of the Modern Gallery in Zagreb, was the author of two medal exhibitions thus continuing to present to the public items from the Collection of Medals and Plaquettes. An exhibition „Zagreb coin makers and engravers“ was used to present the work of the Zagreb craftsmen who made medals for specific occasions between the 19th and 20th centuries (2010). The Modern Gallery marked the 130th anniversary of the birth of the most prominent Croatian medal maker from the first half of the 20th century by holding an exhibition (in 2011) of sculptures and medals made by Ivo Kerdić (1881-1953). During the past two years, national medal makers have crafted a significant number of medals on specific occasions. These occasions were related to sporting, sultural, scientific and other anniversaries, but most of them are still connected to religious topics.
