Sažetak
The aim of this research was to define the structure of the quality of life of young athletes. The study was conducted on a sample of 343 young athletes (both sexes), average age 15.1 years in Zagreb. Quality of life of participants of this study was estimated using the Croatian version of the Questionnaire of quality of life for children and adolescents The Kidscreen Questionnaire (The Kidscreen Group Europe, 2006), (Lorger, 2011). The construct of quality of life, which is estimated by the questionnaire include monitoring the quality of life through the elements of physical, emotional, social, and behavioral well-being. Descriptive statistical methods were calculated, and psychometric characteristics of the Croatian version of The Kidscreen - 52 questionnaires have been checked. To determine the factor structure component model was chosen with the extraction of principal components for Guttman - Kaiserovom criterion (GK criterion). Eleven quality of life factors were extracted which represent hypothetical dimensions of quality of life, related to the psychological well-being, family environment, relationships with friends, youth violence, use of leisure time, physical well-being, satisfaction with school, self-esteem, financial resources, unpleasant emotions and moods, and to socialize with friends.
