Sažetak
Tax politics remains a key preoccupation of governments’ reform agenda in post-socialist countries of Eastern Europe (EE) in the last twenty years. This enlightening book focuses on analyses of key domestic and international factors that drive tax policies in this region. It brings original analysis which challenge some widely spread concepts associated with tax reform and deepens our understanding of its impacts. The book mirrors the core of theoretical and policy debates and provides new empirical information when examining to what extent governments and domestic politics still independently influence economic policy in the context of dominant globalization and regional integration forces. Hilary Appel detected a surprisingly weak role of domestic politics in key areas of EE tax policy.
